In 1989, while continuing to publish Mother to Mother, Arnos accepted a position on the Environmental Advisory Board for Let's Live magazine. When the board was dissolved in 1994 she began writing for Nutrition Insights, a newsletter affiliated with Let's Live magazine, as well as many other periodicals - in print and online. In 1991, Arnos published her first book, Bach Flowers for Children (Spirit Dance Publishing), introducing parents to the gentle influence of flower essences on a child s particular emotional state, which proved to be an excellent reference guide for the practical application, and use of the flowers - for all ages. During the same year, Arnos also produced and hosted a 30-minute television show, Raising Healthy Children Without Drugs, which aired on local cable television. The Los Angeles Times dubbed her, "Medicine Mom" and L.A. Weekly called her the "Good Mother." In the early 1990's Laura Diaz featured Arnos and her daughter in a special report on holistic medicine, which aired on the Channel 7 Eyewitness News in Los Angeles. One of the highlights of her writing career was having the opportunity to interview Benjamin Spock, M.D., the authority on childrens health. Kathy states, "It was an amazing opportunity for me to discuss childrens health issues with someone so highly respected. We shared ideas and found we had a lot in common. He was very open to alternative parenting methods. It was a great honor. In early 2005, Arnos created and began producing the Whole Children, Whole Planet Expo, a premier natural parenting and family expo that introduces, attendees of all ages, to the benefits of natural products, organics foods, natural medicine, enrichment learning programs, sustainable living practices and important health and environmental issues. The first WCWP Expo was held at the Los Angeles Convention Center over Earth Day weekend 2006. Currently, Arnos is the editor of Eco Family News, an e-newsletter based on the principles of Whole Children, Whole Planet, and produces and hosts an internet-radio show - Eco Family News on I Am Healthy Radio - as she continues to write freelance for several on-line and in-print publications. She also sits on the Advisory Board's for California Safe Schools, Holistic Pediatric Association, , and the San Fernando Valley Green Team. Arnos leads the K-12 Environmental Educational Task Force for the Team, and has been named the Environmental Special Projects Coordinator for Northridge East Neighborhood Council. Arnos has been lecturing and teaching parents about health and environmental issues for more than 20 years and states, "My daughter has definitely been my teacher, opening my eyes to another view. We are all put here for a reason, to walk a certain path. My journey is about my truth not everyones truth will be the same. As parents, it is our job and responsibility to keep our children safe and healthy, which means doing research in order to make informed choices. When Danielle was a baby, I didnt take time to do this research and trusted that my pediatrician knew what was best for her. This mistake almost cost us our daughter's health. My goal is not to convert other parents into believing my truth, but to give them the tools and knowledge they need to help them make educated decisions about what is right for their child their truth. I hope my new book, The Complete Teething Guide offers parents this guidance." |
